Dual-Active Chemistry for Pre-Milking Use

Vilnus LACO is a ready-to-use pre-milking teat dip formulated with two active ingredients: lactic acid and chlorhexidine. The combination addresses a broader spectrum of pathogens than single-active formulations. Lactic acid provides rapid bactericidal action, while chlorhexidine contributes residual activity that persists on the teat skin surface between application and milking unit attachment.

Pre-milking dips serve a different purpose than post-milking products. Where post-milking dips protect the open teat canal after the unit is removed, pre-milking products focus on reducing bacterial load on the teat end and teat skin immediately before milking begins, lowering the risk of environmental pathogen entry into the canal during milking.

Glycerin-Based Cosmetic Effect

Vilnus LACO includes a glycerin component that delivers a cosmetic emollient effect on teat skin. Teat condition is a direct factor in mastitis risk: cracked, chapped, or hyperkeratotic teat ends provide surface area for pathogen colonization and mechanical pathways toward the canal. Regular use of a conditioned pre-milking dip supports teat skin integrity over time.

Foam Application Compatibility

Vilnus LACO is compatible with standard foam dipping equipment, including Ambic Multi Foamer Plus and similar foam application tools. Foam coverage is preferable to liquid dipping in many parlor configurations because it improves surface contact with the teat end, reduces product waste from drip, and is faster in large-herd operations.
