Import Logistics from Turkey to Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is landlocked, which means all imports travel by land, air, or a combination of sea and land. For commercial quantities of dairy hygiene products from Turkey, the practical routes are:

Trans-Caspian route (most common for Turkish goods):

Truck from Turkey → ferry or road to Baku (Azerbaijan) → Caspian ferry from Alat port (Baku) to Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan) or Aktau (Kazakhstan) → truck into Uzbekistan

This is the primary route for Turkish goods to Uzbekistan and is well-established with regular ferry sailings. Transit time from Turkey to Tashkent is typically 14–25 days depending on the Caspian ferry schedule.

Land route via Georgia-Azerbaijan-Turkmenistan:

Overland from Turkey through Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and into Uzbekistan. This avoids the Caspian sea leg but adds distance and additional border crossings. Used when Caspian ferry schedules are inconvenient.

Air freight: viable for urgent small volumes but not economical for commercial hygiene product quantities (100+ kg).

Regulatory Considerations

Uzbekistan regulates veterinary medicinal products through the State Committee of Veterinary Medicine. Products claiming antimicrobial efficacy on animals (teat dips) may require registration. Products classified as industrial cleaning chemicals (milking system cleaners) generally follow standard chemical import procedures.

Uzbekistan is a member of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) and has bilateral agreements with several trading partners. Turkey-Uzbekistan trade relations are active but Uzbekistan is not a member of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), so EAEU registration (which covers Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan) does not automatically apply.

Language note: Russian remains widely used in Uzbek business and government contexts. Product documentation in Russian significantly facilitates regulatory and customs handling.
