Sourcing Livestock Hygiene Products from Türkiye: A Buyer's Guide

Türkiye has built a substantial manufacturing base for livestock hygiene and animal-health products over the past two decades, driven by its own large domestic dairy and livestock sector and growing export activity into neighboring regions.

Most livestock hygiene consumables, teat dips, milking-system cleaners, hoof-care products, and general farm disinfectants, are classed as cosmetic, chemical, or agricultural-input products in most destination markets, which generally means a lighter import process than pharmaceutical or biological products.

By contrast, vaccines and other biologics almost always require registration with the destination country's veterinary or pharmaceutical regulatory authority before import, a process that can take months and typically requires a locally registered importer of record. Buyers should confirm registration status early, before committing to volumes or timelines.

When evaluating a Turkish producer, ask for a minimum order quantity, lead time from order confirmation to shipment, and whether delivery is Ex Works (EXW) or another Incoterm, since freight cost and responsibility assumptions differ significantly between terms.

A single point of contact who understands both the product line and the export process, rather than switching between multiple contacts, tends to shorten the sourcing cycle considerably for first-time buyers.
