Two-Component Disinfection: Why Two Parts

DIO A+B is a two-component disinfectant system in which Part A and Part B are mixed at the time of use to generate the active disinfectant solution. Two-component systems are used when the active chemistry is unstable in pre-mixed form and must be generated fresh to maintain full efficacy. Mixing at the time of use ensures that the product is applied at peak antimicrobial activity rather than after concentration has degraded in storage.

This approach is common with certain oxidizing chemistry (such as systems that generate peracetic acid or chlorine dioxide upon mixing) and with formulations where the stabilizers of each component would interfere with each other in combined storage.

Farm Surface Disinfection Applications

DIO A+B is positioned for general farm surface and equipment disinfection in:

  • Livestock housing: walls, floors, and partitions in dairy housing, free stall barns, and loose housing between groups or following disease events
  • Calf housing: calf pens and hutches between occupants — calf housing is a high-priority area given the susceptibility of young animals to enteric and respiratory pathogens
  • Milking facilities: parlor equipment surfaces, waiting areas, and footpaths
  • Feed storage and handling areas

Use Preparation

The two components are combined at the specified ratio into a water dilution before application. Equipment used — sprayers, foamers, footbath vessels — should be rinsed after use to prevent residue buildup from the mixed formulation.
