CLS CLEAN in the Milking System Cleaning Range

CLS CLEAN is the flagship alkaline cleaning product in the CLS product family, designed for Clean-in-Place (CIP) washing of milking pipelines, receiver groups, clusters, and bulk milk cooling tanks. It delivers high-chlorine alkaline chemistry for effective removal of fat, protein, and milk residues after each milking session.

The CLS and MS product families serve the same cleaning function but are positioned as distinct formulation lines, allowing distributors and farm supply operations to offer complementary ranges or match buyer preferences for either family. CLS CLEAN and MS CLEAN perform comparable functions; selection often comes down to the established supply chain at a given farm or distribution network.

High-Chlorine Chemistry for Organic Soil and Biofilm

At the concentrations used in CIP milking washing, the high-chlorine alkaline chemistry in CLS CLEAN achieves:

• Effective fat saponification: the alkaline component converts milk fats to water-soluble forms for flushing
• Protein denaturation and removal: alkaline conditions disrupt protein cross-links, releasing adhered milk protein from surfaces
• Biofilm disruption: chlorine at CIP concentrations penetrates and disrupts established biofilm matrices far more effectively than mechanical action alone
• Surface sanitization: chlorine provides residual sanitization of circuit surfaces following the wash cycle

Stainless Steel and Rubber Compatibility

CLS CLEAN includes additives that limit corrosive attack on stainless steel milking circuit components during repeated use. Rubber seal and gasket compatibility should be verified against equipment specifications, as high-chlorine alkaline solutions vary in their effect on different rubber compounds.

Pairing with CLS CID

For complete milking system hygiene, CLS CLEAN alkaline washing is paired with the acid descaling cycle provided by CLS CID or CLS CID N. The alkaline-acid rotation prevents both organic and mineral soil accumulation and is the industry-standard two-stage protocol for dairy circuit hygiene.
